The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) just announced $40 million in funding to help California farmers increase their water use efficiency during this drought.
The State Water Efficiency and Enhancement Program (SWEEP) provides financial assistance in the form of grants (Up to $200,000 per farming entity) to implement irrigation systems that reduce greenhouse gases and save water on California agricultural operations.

Eligible projects include the following:
*Converting from flood irrigation to drip
*Installation of a variable frequency drive (VFD)
*Irrigation management using soil moisture monitoring
*Irrigation automation
*Converting from diesel to electric pumps
Applications are being accepted starting Oct.1. Not all that apply will get approved. If you are interested don’t delay, energy documents are needed, pump efficiency tests completed, equipment quotes gathered and project designs created.
Hortau offer’s real time soil moisture monitoring, irrigation automation, flow meter, well depth and weather monitoring.
